First Lego League, or FLL, is an annual theme based competition. Teams have to design a robot that can navigate a unique field littered with obstacles while completing objectives. As our team's leader and main builder, I ensured that all of our objectives were met whilst being responsible for the design and construction of robots and attachments.
Throughout the competition, we faced many challenges and obstacles that we needed to overcome. In order to do this, we adopted the following core values...
Throughout FLL we enjoyed the process of working together to build and program the bot. As we continued working together, our teamwork improved and got stronger. Even if we encounter challenges and have disagreements, we learn how to overcome our differences and persevere to resolve these problems.
Everyone was a part of our team. We all contributed to the success of our robot runs. For that to happen, I guided our team in setting rules, to allow for easier and smoother communication.
I implemented this concept into our robot design and created a latching system that prevents the attachment from detaching, especially during times when the motor is putting stress on the connection points of our attachments and our robot frame. At the same time, it allows for easy removal and reattachment.
We made multiple prototypes of our attachments to maximize the efficiency of our runs and ease of use. We also learnt PDtrack, a type of line tracing and how to use the inbuilt gyro on SPIKE to increase the accuracy and precision of our robot.
We focused less on the points and learnt how to enjoy the process. We also felt that being passionate about FLL allowed us to devote more time and work to the best of our abilities. Whenever someone completed a task, we also celebrated their success.
We divided and conquered by assigning roles that best suit our skills.
